Co-lead Paige Hunter recently was a guest on Seeds of Hope: A Climate Storytelling Podcast, by The Starfish!
On Episode 04: Building Community is a Climate Solution, Paige and Claire Marshall talk about Paige’s journey as a youth climate advocate, from attending a UN Climate Change Conference as a Youth Delegate, to using poetry and choir to show that everyday people already care about the changing climate.
Here is an excerpt:
How can we take that awareness and that desire to do something and find ways to motivate people to act as well?
People will often have arguments about not doing things like a certain way. And so we were like, well, what if we create an organization where we just are super weird, we allow ourselves space to make mistakes, and we get really creative with how we talk about climate change.
And so we have a really cool event series called The Art of Change, which we started a couple of years ago, where we’ve just finished our third event in February. And The Art of Change is a way that we bridge two kind of things that are typically quite stuffy, and those can be like the climate space, as well as the arts and culture space. And I know arts and culture can take many forms, but we started with classical music, which in many ways can seem like it’s not for everyone.
